Touring exhibitions

Each year the gallery hosts between four to six major national touring exhibitions showcasing a diverse range of content, style and forms.

Exhibitions are normally planned two years in advance and aim to bring the very best in Australian visual arts to the gallery.

Internally curated exhibitions

The gallery internally curates the majority of its exhibitions, including the popular annual competition The Gosford Art Prize. The Emerging Art Prize, aimed at young emerging artists aged between 18 and 30, is also run biennially.

The Gosford Art Prize continues attracts entries from all over the country; giving local artists the chance to go up against professional artists from other regions. The competition also provides significant exposure for local artists and for the region in general.

Foyer Gallery program

The Foyer Gallery displays work by a range of emerging and established artists, with a focus on representing artists from the region.

Exhibitions in the Foyer Gallery are selected through an application process which is held twice a year.

The space is primarily allocated to local accomplished artists, however artists from outside of the region are also able to apply to exhibit in this space.

These exhibitions are generally scheduled 12 – 18 months in advance.

For information about exhibiting in the Foyer Gallery, visit our Exhibiting at the Gallery page.

School exhibitions

The gallery works closely with local schools on a number of projects, including the annual Central Vision exhibition which showcases works by local public high school students.

School participation is also high in the gallery’s annual Reconciliation Art Competition.

Artist talks

Our free artist talks provide an opportunity to gain further insight into the work and practice that goes into each exhibition.
